Okay, in Oregon we have a measure that wants to ban gay marriage in the state's constitution. This link is the official Oregon Voters Pamphlet and is what we received in the mail last week. I read the first three arguments in favor, and wow. I can't believe the guy who wrote them actually got away with that. I can tell he's being sarcastic, but damn. Heehee. Arguments in favor of Measure 36

LOL! That has got to be one of the most whacked out guys out there. Hilarious stuff! Kinda makes me just want to see who he is, then just watch him get hit in the nuts be various items, i.e., knee, boot, football, wrecking ball, small rocks, etc.
Or he's just joking around, which I truely hope he is.

Yeah, I'm sure it's a joke. I think it might help show some of the anti-gay bigots how stupid their arguments really are.

So let me get your point. People who are against gay marriage are bigots, but people who hate the anti-gay marriage people are okay?
It's absolutly amazing how people like you scream at the top of your lungs to accept people for who they are and what they believe in until they disagree with you. Typical f*cking liberal is all you are Fat Mike. Granted, these arguments may sound extreme but they make some very good points. Other than the first guy obviously, he is just an idiot and going for sarcasm like you said.

Granted, for me to call them all bigots was not appropiate and I'll admit my error in doing so. However, I do feel many of these people are misled in their reasoning and do not know any gay people or understand their lifestyle. Voting "Yes" on this certain ballot flat out will change the constitution to make same-sex marriage illegal. Voting "No" makes no change to the constitution nor does it make same-sex marriage illegal. I want to leave work now, but I'll most more research and what not on it tomorrow.

First off, thank you for comming clean on that, it's really the first time any liberal has realized how hypocritical that argument is.
Second, there is really no research to post. This whole issue of gay marriage should be left up to the voters to decide. I for one am very happy that there is an issue on the ballots and not some damn nutcase judge making this decision for us! Tell me what is wrong with leaving the issue of gay marriage up to the people to vote on?
Oh yeah, I know the answer to my question. It's because a majority of Americans agree that marriage should be between a man and a woman! That is why so many democrats and social liberals crap their pants when an issue like this goes on the ballot! It's because they KNOW it will go a way other than theirs.

My fiffy cent: I don't think what we FEEL is right or wrong should be forced on others. I don't think gays should marry. Heck, I don't think ppl should be gay. But that's what i think, it's not for me to force onto others. Also, I believe in God and believe it's up to Him, ultimately, to decide what is right and wrong. No need to have it in written law, the day comes for each of us in which we must come before the Lord,,, let the judgement be then.

I have not read the first three arguments in support yet, but from what I've heard, they were written by people (and possibly even the same group/person) opposed to the measure in order to freak people out and make them think that the only people who support this measure are wack-jobs. There are plenty of people from all walks of life who support this measure -- Republicans, Democrats, Christians, athiests, and people of all races. I even saw a sticker in favor of this measure sharing bumper space with a Kerry/Edwards sticker!

The same guy is behind all three, and he was attempting scarcasm in all three. This technique of the mock argument HAS been used before in the Oregon Voters Pamphlets, but this guy's efforts did raise (lower?) the standard against which such efforts in the future will be measured.
When the guy pays his fee, it's still legal for him to submit parodies.
Would a specific target of his qualify for anti-discrimination purposes as within a protected class?
Any "South Park" fans, early rap music fans, or 1st Amendment fans care to weigh in?
