it would be helpful if i knew more about the condition of your car. how many miles? 5spd or auto ? what type of octane fuel do you use 87 ? 89 ? 93 ? . the best thing to do is whats called BACK TO STOCK. thats the starting point before you do any mods to your car.
if your car isn't up to the factory settings then adding mods will not help you.
an air intake is usally good for 2-4 hp on a stock car. the idea is to have a hole bunch of mods so that they benifit from each other. one mod will not do it alone. except turbo,supercharger,nitrous.
yes heatshield play a big role in the sound aspect and function of an air intake the cooler the air the better the car will perform.
