I'm a bit confused here, are you saying not to downshift when coming to a light (stopping) If so thats total BS, I've always done that with whatever MTX I've had and w/o a problem Its probably why my front brakes @ 44K had over 50% of the material on them

I read on here (someone posted awhile back), the same thing I just said. I took that like the bible and enver did so, to downshift into first when stopping. According to the way that everyone reacted, that was true.

Here it is. Read!

Downshifting

Read all of it.. you'll see what I am coming from. And all of you who flat out said "worst advise ever", read up on a few things before you talk. You may learn something. Also, never did I say anything about cornering, passing, changing lanes, etc. I Said when coming to a stop, in regards to using the breaks and engine to stop.

Give me a brake/break! You're pointing towards a CEG thread as justification that has varying opinions?

Please!

As long as you don't ride the clutch you have nothing to worry about.

so buy pushing in the clutch and applying the brakes while coming to a stop, im ruining my transmission. Ive never downshifted when coming to a stop, and I have 90K on my tranny and its never had any problems.

I downshift, but I will usually rev match if the rpm's are going to increase by more than ~1000 rpm's. It does help with slowing the car down, keeps me ready for anything that could happen such as an idiot pulling out in front of me and I have to make a quick accelerating maneuver, and best of all it sounds cool
