Lucky you... When I was at GSU, there were only 64 dial-in modems... So, we all had to fight to keep a connection, and I had to beat the sh!t out of my roommate to stay off of the phone.
Luckily, I worked in the library so I could do all my 'surfing' there.

Note that transfer rate is Megabyte, not megabit. The transfer rate is actually higher than that, but when a 14MB file only takes 3.5 seconds to download the rate is never accurate because it's still accelerating before the file ends.
Back when I was in Clovis they had just hooked up our area on base with fibre optics I was dling 30-40MB files in like 2 secs. I actually remember this one file that showed dl speed at 14 megaBYTEs/psecond. At the time I was stuck with dial up (nothing else available) at home and I almost had a heartattack.
