Well, from Brad Noon and bicycle019. Have you ever torn down a toasted 2.5 Mr all knowing technician? And hey, if you are so all knowing about TVD why didn't you guys figure out that the 2.5 durtc needed a dual mode damper to begin with - o wait 'cause it's ford who specifies your engineering constraints and you just build the stuff...

ScottK if ya wanna know why I get pizzed at ya just read WTF YOU wrote towards ME. You started the flame war jerky
, p.s. with all the degree's flying around I thought I should through out there what kind of degree and where i got it. I DO NOT HAVE ONE> I got to where I am today because of what I can do and what I know. I did not get my position by way of a piece of paper.

Judge, Just ignore the putz. He certainly doesn't know how things work in the auto industry. Maybe smoeday he'll understand what development is and why it's needed. Now let's get away from this guy and discuss what's important here. What's the part number for the damper we need? I hit that damm rev limiter nearly every and I want to make this change as soon as I can. I'm taking my car to the dealer tomorrow anyway so I'll go to parts and get it ordered. When and where are we having the Metro Detroit replace your damper party? Never have a problem with wasting my time wrenching and I'm willing to bring some beer too.

Thumbs up Dan for this thread. It seems like the frequencies don't only affect the crank but the drivers as well!!! laugh

No matter what clashes me and Judge may have had, I will say he must no his stuff, I mean Terry backs him up, that's gotta speak for something. I think me and Judge brushed up on each other the wrong way in my last post, that's why I just stop posting anything, just let the clouds clear up if you know what I mean. Ain't nothing gonna come about by throwing words around on the Internet...

As I know from too many of my own experiences (of course almost always haveing the upper hand ;)), here in the Islands when two people have a problem with each other, or DISLIKE each other in any way, things start to get a little messy on the pavement, and it would get alot as Terry would put it "Blood-E!" Someones gonna end up in ER or at least broken bones, (NOSE)

I am in NO WAY suggesting anything to you JUDGE, or to you, SCOTT!!! laugh laugh laugh

By the way Dan, you mentioned something about a Damper?? wink

I made a stop in the parts dept. when I picked-up my car today and the P/N for the damper on the 2001 Cougar is F7RZ-6316-AA, the price is 58.18. Can anyone tell me if this is the part we want? If so I'll call Bill Jenkins tomorrow and see if he can hook us up with a better price.

Just an FYI,heat the new damper 'hub' on a hotplate or heat gun(dont 'cook' it or the rubber)as its has an 'interference' fit and will be VERY tight to get on the crank, dont hammer it,if you have the correct Ford tool to 'press' it on so much the better. wink

Hmmm now I see 2 different part numbers for Cougar damper.. Also, does anyone know if I would need to get the Cougar pulley and accessory drive belt as well?

Boy, this is getting good. It's like a soap opera... laugh

Engineers do make a lot of things and know a lot of things, but it also depends on how they present themselves. Some think they know everything and tell (in one way or another) everyone that they are that much of a GOD , and some know what they know and only pipe in when they have the FACTUAL answer. When an engineer starts ASSUMING things and they are an Engineer, maybe you should be in a different profession.

Real engineers don't ASSUME, they DO IT! laugh

A piece of paper didn't get me my IT job (it helped), it was the knowledge of all types of computers and software from my old Apple IIc and on that got me my job.
