I made an observation in my new state today. I witnessed some of the Texas Longhorns vs. Oklahoma Sooners rivalry fanaticism. It was crazy to say the least. These folks go CRAZY! Anyway, I saw a minivan that said "house divided" on the back window and half the van was painted in TX colors the other half in OK colors. Which brings me to my question; What makes people choose their teams? It's obvious to pay homage to your state or your college. But what are some other reasons? Here are my teams and why.

NFL - Packers. Why? cuz they kick ass. I love the organization and Favre is beast. He has so much fun playing football. I also visited Green Bay when I was in college and they are all about their town. It's amazing. If you get a chance to visit, do so.

NBA - Spurs - Always liked the organization and their players. Spurs for LIFE!

College - EVERYONE. I just love how entertaining the games are. I didn't go to a college with any teams so I just followed everyone.

NASCAR - Cool to watch. no fav driver though.

NHL -

MLB - Don't follow it. I Find it boring mostly, but it can have its moments.

I'll forgive you because you're a Brit. But it's Bledsoe, and it's the NFL.

Football- Redskins! Why? I guess it goes back to my brother inlaw, they are his favorite team. I grew up with out a dad and no sports influences (except for Basketball) I used to watch games with my brother inlaw, so the skins were my team as well. I miss those days. I miss the Oilers

NBA- Houston Rockets! I got that from my uncles. However, I really like all the Texas teams, the spurs kick ass and the mavs rock (plus Mark Cuban is a scream)

College- My college doesn't play on that level so as long as its not UT University of Texas I'm good. Most of my family went to Texas A&M so I'm an Aggie by birth. I also like CAL! Go Bears!

NASCAR - Sucks! I prefer rally and road racing.

NHL - Stars, but I don't follow it.

MLB - I agree, it's boring. If I had to choose, Astros.

NHL-Tampa Bay Lightning. Like most people I didn't care about hockey. In 93 I went to my first game and ever since I was hooked. Chances are most people who don't like hockey have never been to a game. So I like the Lightning because they were my first experience with the sport.

College football- Miami Hurricanes. Back in the mid to late 80's they were the bad boys of the game. I remember one game they had against Georgia Tech I believe and at the end of the game they had a bench clearing brawl. Most of their games back then would end with a fight of some kind. I especially like it when they beat up on FSU. Not to mention they could back it up with the way they played on the field.

NFL- Bucs. Only because I would like to see them do well. They had so many crappy years and since they are they home team you have to pull for them sometimes. Unfortunatly it looks like their back to being the doormats of the league.

MLB - Red Sox. Grew up in MA. Thats is where my folks are from, and every last one of my relatives live. Grew up watching them play.

NBA - Celtics

NHL - Bruins

NFL - Detroit Lions. Got sucked in as a huge Barry Sanders fan. Also spent some of my youth in Michigan. Just never got into football until later with the Celtics and Bruins winning everything as a kid.

College - University of Florida Gators. Spent 6.5 years in Gainesville as my wife got her masters there. Seeing as every dollar of my paycheck was going there, I kinda supported them.

NFL - Carolina Panthers (we didn't have football when I was young, and it's my home team)

NHL - Pittsburgh Penguins (always been a huge fan of Mario, Jagr and Francis, and I've stuck with the team even if Jagr and Francis are gone) If only that team had money....

NBA - don't give a rats a$$ anymore. I'll watch the Finals. NCAA ball is more entertaining for sure.

MLB - not a huge baseball fan, but I like the Braves and Red Sox. Don't like the Yankees.

College - NC Tarheels

NHL - Dallas Stars
NBA - Dallas Mavericks
Soccer - Dallas Burn

If I lived anywhere else, I'd probably be rooting for whichever home team happened to be closest in proximity to my immediate location.

My only interest in watching sports comes when my home team is winning.
