quit apologizing...you didn't do anything wrong...it's just that alot of people around here seem to have an attitude towards people with less than infinite levels of patience...
...and they're scaring away other potential enthusiasts as well as long standing enthusiasts...
anyways, the turbo's gonna get made...it's just gonna take some time is all...and as for which fomoco v6 is better between probe and contour? well, they both suck...neither set benchmarks in performance, neither enjoy import-like aftermarkets, both have questionable reliability...
...but i still like my contour svt over the probe...it's bigger, just as quick, faster, equally nimble, more pleasing aesthetically (least i think so)...and where the probe probably has a dwindling aftermarket the contour aftermarket seems to be growing...
personally, as far as mods go, i'm in the same boat as most people i think...i can only afford on major performance upgrade...so i'm waiting to see what the best option will be between super/turbo/3L...seems like 3L but we'll see...

If you don't even have the 2k$, why are you in such a hurry for the kit to come out costing 5k$??? You don't have the money, bottom line, so what is your rush? I wouldnn't worry bout it now. Wait til you have the money and start putting out your time and money into building one like Mr. hightower and others have been doing. You should thank them for doing it period, they don't have to put their free time and money into it for you.

Wants to 'see' the kit but has no deposit!.I can go to a crankshaft/piston/rod supplier and ask for parts for a Duratec...'We dont make them but we can if you want them = CASH!.Why would we develop anything for the Contour if everyone only wants to SEE it and not BUY IT?....It does not follow either that if you see you will buy...look at the Vortec, how many members have then ? 8, 10 tops?....get real!

maybe he and others would just like 2 see a kit before they rob a bank or start selling crack 2 get the required monies,i'm also anxious 2 see how the turbo turns out,if its what i'm hoping 4 then maybe its worth pulling money outta rsps or getting a loan for even raising your visa limit(ouch).i'm deciding between 3l,turbo and supercharger for next year with the 3l way ahead right now but damn would i like 2 see a turbo kit.chris never asked for any money but i thought interested parties throwing in some cash for development was a great idea.i have utmost respect for everyone who spends their time and monies on developing parts for the contour

He did compile a list of those wishing to put down deposits and in some cases donations toward R & D costs. I know, cause I'm one of them. Correct me if I'm wrong but its over 50 of a mix of tours and cougars. Chris has been forthcoming everytime he has had news on the turbo, good or bad. Patience my friends......Patience.

Just have to pipe in here to make sure things are correct.
1. I don't "need" any money to get this going, but every little bit helps. Cash is not an issue right now, and donations are welcome.
2. This thing is going to get made. I have close to 80 people with close to a $40,000 commitment. I am going to be safe and say maybe a fourth of those people will follow through.
3. If you take into account how long ago the Contour came out, this is a fairly normal time frame for a turbo kit to come out.
4. The simple fact that FoMoCo is still making an "enthusiast" car with the Duratec engine in it helps (Cougar)
5. The possibility of this kit working on the Taurus, Escape, and maybe the New Mondeo/Jag are interesting, and who knows what our beloved Duratec is bound for.

You know what.. I may be new to this list, but it seems to me that some people on this list have a mightier art than thou attitude.. Terry Haines Put your money where your mouth is...I'm sure both Mr Hightower and myself would be glad to take a say $2000 deposit on a t/c kit for a Contour set up...we could buy the hardware and start building it right now ! You know... If i were to say "hey if you all sent me money so I could build this great fangled new thingy.. but Im not gonna build one to show anyone,till you give me the money", I personally wouldnt send you anything either.. All this put your money where you mouth stuff is crap.. and if you would take a look out there in the business world, its called a PROTOTYPE.. you want people to buy it, you build it...YOu have to spend Money to make money, I believe is how the phrase goes, How many times have people said "Hey if enough people show interest in this , maybe they will build it so we can buy it"?????
Thats how free enterprise works, so if your heads arent too big to fit where they seem to be now, you might realize that your "stuff" kinda stinks... I wouldnt buy jack from anyone who says "put your money where your mouth is"...
As far as the line about going to a place that sells pistons and rods and telling them you need a part for a duratec(i.e. pistons and rods) yeah you better fork up some cash, but you know they make the formentioned parts, so its not a total crapshoot.. But if youre going to a place that never has made a turbo kit for a car like this...yeah I know I'd sure as hell want to see something that they had done before I forked over money... Its like going to Brembo, or Baer and asking them for a Camshaft.. yeah they can turn metal on a lathe but doesnt mean they can make a good camshaft.. I wanna see it before I spend money for it...
I sure as hell would know I wouldnt buy a house if all that some guy told me was, hey its gonna be 4 bedrooms 3 baths and have a roof and brick exterior??Or goto a plastic surgen, who just started a new procedure, when you havent seen any of his work??
