I am a huge do-it-yourself guy and I was wondering if there was a way I could remove the exhaust resonator midway under my car by myself. Has anybody had any experience with this?

yep, very easy, just use a sawz all and then weld a pipe or different res up there. straight pipe is raspy though.

Alright, I guess I won't be able to do this considering I am a 16 year old kid with no welding experience... off to car-x.

you could clamp straight pipe or a new res in, should just need a pipe expander to make it fit

How would I remove the actual resonator? How is it secured in?

Just wondering, are resonators actually restrictive??
cause im getting very mixed reponsed and if so why?
I dont see anything that would really restrict airflow since its almost like a glasspack

if you are going to remove the resonator i would strongly suggest replacing it with a glasspack at least, i had removed my resonator and at high rpm's it sounded like a 2-stroke dirtbike, very ricey. I bought a thrush glasspack ("cherry bomb") at meijer for only 15 dollars i then had it welded in for $60 by a local AAA Muffler. The glasspack sounds great, for $75 you can't beat the sound i have, i am also only 16 so i know how it feels. So if you do remove it replace it with a glasspack or you'll scream rice.

check out the glass packs summit sells...they are pretty good quality and my SVT sounded so sweet with the res gone and that in it's place. In fact I still have one on my car...no cats...no mufflers, only the glasspack and a turbo to quiet it down
