Zowie-POW! One twenty-six-nine for 1800 square feet four level split, four bedroom 2 bath... My future brother in law thought we were rich when he visited from San Fran last Thanksgiving, now I can see why. Any pics of the new found money lynching? Does Arnold know the prices are so out of whack out there in <arnold voice> Cali-fffffffonniiiaaaaaaa</arnold voice>?

Hmm, I looked up the listing online and they were too cheap to list pictures. We did get it for 10,000 less than there asking though, and it's 7600 sqft lot not 7000. I've never heard of REMIC, but if they are looking for a mechanical engineer / software engineer with active security clearances and will pay well (100+) let me know. Not that I'm looking for a job, but it never hurts to network

What does almost 1/2 a million dollars get for you here in San Diego you ask? A 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom 1304 sq ft single story on 7000 sq ft of land Actually, things are slowing down in this market, similar houses were going for 480-500 back in May when everyone was trying to buy "before the rates go up"
Oh well, at least the crappy jobs outlook today drove the intrest rates back down ! I should end up with a low 5 to high 4% rate on my first.
Sounds about right for San Diego. My ex wifes aunt lives in El Cahone(sp) and they bought 3 apartment style houses on a small lot for about a million.

Isn't that just the wrong way?
Yeah, but faster!

Just out of morbid curiosity, I've looked at spits of land in Napa and Sonoma that have 2 bedroom, 1 bath shacks sitting on them. Average price runs around $800k... That would give me 5-10 acres in a NICE area of the KC area (Lenexa, Overland Park, etc.) with a 4-5K sq foot residence, 4 car garage AND give me enough left over to furnish the damn thing. There are times I think CA needs to move to a 50-60 year mortgage option...

Really? I thought I had heard once that Jo Co had one of the highest incomes-per-capita in the United States. You'd figure the cost of living would at least be proportional. Doesn't seem like what you said above is much more expensive than exotic Lincoln, NE.

That's funny - they have an office located about 5 mintues from my house:
REMEC Commercial 14020 Stowe Drive Poway, CA 92064
Looks like locally they do a lot more EE and manufacturing work that I'm not really into.
They are just down the road from another company called SpaceDev (Google blurb: Scaled Composites announced today the selection of SpaceDev of Poway, California as the vendor of choice to supply key elements of the SpaceShipOne's hybrid...) that does work for scaled composites that built the x-prize winning space ship one. Like I said - LOTS of tech around here! My house is just about 5 miles from the old (now abandoned) bunkers where General Dynamics stored the stinger and tomahawk missles they manufactured!
