Wahoo!!! Squeek found after months of chasing! Based on my finding last week that it wasn't in the suspension itself, and with Terry's suggestion that I have a feel/listen at the top of the strut tower, I climbed into the trunk through the back seat (fold down seats) and had my wife back in and out of the driveway - presto, squeek gone. It turns out that it's something in the seat that is rubbing - still not sure quite where the squeek is, but at least now I know that putting the seat down and back up fixes the problem temporarily.
