Originally posted by Kevin Hodges: O, i was also wondering...what benefits will you see from a "custom" exhaust...will you only see more power if the pipe is +2.5 for more flow, or will this jus cause back pressure...i have msds headers on the way, and i am getting the race series mufflers...would it be wise to widen the exhaust pipe? or keep it the same...and if kept at 2.5...why even bother with a custom? thanks Kevin
Listen - You DON'T need or want those massive 3.5" mufflers. The exhuat will actually slow down through those monsters and will probably cost you power. Those Race mufflers are for circle-track (i.e. stock cars) and drag cars. They offer little to no noise attentuation and are totally OVERKILL for you car. It's be like putting on a K&N filter that was the size of a 44 gallon drum, on your intake.
The 10426 is a 4" round with 22" long body resonator that has a 2.5" inlet and outlet and internals. That's ideal/perfect for the center pipe after the main cat, which should also be 2.5".
Now for the rears, if you go buy the SVT on Car Domain it has Race Series Mirror Finish mufflers that are 14842's. I've sold this set up to about 6-7 CEGer's. It'll flow more than enough for even a worked 3.0L
To top it iff you;d want a Magnaflow 10758 y-transition for the split at the rear from the 2.5" main pipe to two 2.25" pipes for each of the rear mufflers.
If you want to ignore my advice, fine, but I know more than enough about these cars and what works and what doesn't.
All this stuff I can supply you with if you want. Just drop me a PM.
