As I meander through, I thought I would add this to the insurance thread...was sort of surprised it didn't come up before...

Within each state, not all counties are created equally in terms of insurance. Generally your metro areas are the worst, followed by the contiguous counties and the cheaper rates are usally found in BFE.

And, of course, we all know that the insurance companies look at the statistics more often than the specific driver, which means that the younger guys will get screwed moreso than an older female when it comes to pricing. Another thing, though, is that many companies are looking at the credit histories of drivers...still haven't figured out WHAT that has to do with my ability to keep a car out of a claims file.

Oh, and FWIW, the quote I was given on the vehicle I posted about in the earlier thread would be just under $400 every 6 months (~395). 30+ F with clear history for the period they look at...
