You'll have to wait for one of the technical audio people to chime in to explain that. All I know is you can reach that amount of power by bridging the one amp to one sub and utilizing both chanels. Something like that. WHich in termns, (in theory, I think ) means you can have a maximum output of 600 watts for each of your subs, when brdged with each sub sharing the 2 channels. I dunno... I'm not the CEG rocket Scientist... where's he at?
