My uncles who one drives like 4 hours daily to get to work in crappy whether and the other who lives in Vermont, both swear by this tire called the Hakkapeliitta. I looked at Nokian's, manufactures, website and the tred looks good. Just thought i would post seeing if anyone has any experience witht hem. ITs most likely what im going to get.
Peace
Brett

I've never tried them myself. But I know that the Rear wheel drive Volvo owners swear by these tires. You can take a look at the brickboard (www.brickboard.com) and do a search in the RWD forums. They are made in Finland, where the winters are similar to those in Vermont and Quebec. These tires are actually on my short list for winter tires for my Mystique.

They are Finnish, if I am not mistaken. Finland is very cold in the winter, so winter tires are a necessity. Their reputation is excellent.

I have 'em, and they're an excellent snow tire. I've had mine for 2 winters now, and they're holding up great so far. I highly recommend the Hakka 1's.

I don't have any experience with them (yet) but I know two people who have them. One has a modded Civic and the other is a BMW 530i. They both say that they are the best winter tire they have ever driven. The Civic even ran an auto-x on a plowed lot last year and said that he didn't have to slow down very much.

Had a set of Hakka2's on my old Miata and that thing went through 6+" of snow without any problems (other than the radiator packing with snow). For heavy snow on unplowed roads they're the best snows there are. If you drive on packed snow or plowed roads more frequently then Michelin Artic Alpins are the way to go. I've got a set for sale in the classifieds too... Scott
