Trapps - your right on the petunia - but from petunia to GT concept drawings was the time you noted - From the time decided to produce the GT and the drawings it was under 2 years till "production" began -
the petunia project code name was for the pre-GT idea - when they decided to produce the car it took abotu 2 years.
Daisy was even faster IIRC

well as we learned when we went to the Saleen show, Saleen is producing the GT for Ford, which may help explain the speedy delivery--bypass all the red tape of the corp bureaucracy, or not... just a guess.

I don't think so, you have to register to direct link I think. Just go there and search.

Just to clarify, are you asserting that Petunia was a different car than the GT? I'm confused by the "but from petunia to GT concept drawings" statement.

The petunia was the plan - it was the pipe dream iof the ideal car they would like to produce. When they were actually given money to start the Ford GT-40 project (now GT) it began its gestation - before then it was the pipe dream known as Petunia
