All the return type injectors are side feed ,the later are top feed.I'll dig up some nath on matcing etc injector size Vs HP etc.

IMO putting the large 34/35mm lower on the tiny stock upper may lose power.

Seems like the added turbulence caused from going from "maybe" 28mm (stock upper) to 34/35mm back to 28mm (heads) would do a number on velocity. Among other things...

You are much better off getting the upper! It's already smaller then the stock lower...

Clear something up for me - is the only thing that makes the lower returnless the fuel rail? Or is there a physical difference in the casting or injector type.

Will the 98 (E0) fuel rail and injectors fit on the 2K larger lower?
