Rods and pistons will handle same max as crank.Best combos are nitrided steel billet crank,Ti rods,RR58 alloy pistons, steel piston pins etc.Good for around 10,000rpm

TERRY,
how much would a combo like that cost????
i was looking into the ti rods and the pistons already how much would it be to get that crank do you know of a company that makes them???? also if i were to get the 3.0 shot peened magnifluxed and cyro treated (can all those be done to the same crank) how much power could it with stand

also what would terry haines motorsports charge to build up a bad ass 3.0 (everything weve talked about so far) email me at relentless1214@hotmail.com

also how much would it cost to get the 3.0 heads ported, polished, and have a 3 angle vavle job done

Care to comment on that terry? i am not saying it sustained 900hp for any length of time... but still... the crank has to be rated higher then 230hp, no?

i am offically a troll... so take my information and advice with a grain of salt.

Interesting........

Duttweiler used the stock crank in the 2.5L engine he built up for that SEMA Focus last year... 4 Bolt main..yadda yadda yadda... they got it up to 450HP around 7000RPM or so...using Ferea Rods and JE Pistons, ARP head bolts, stock valve train...

Terry, I wanted to build my own 3.0L to save money on labor costs and what not..... But I will eventually need to get an estimate for a Turbo ready 3.0L engine from you.....
you have my email already, just send it away...

The Duratec has 4 bolt mains on the 'stoc' girdle,no big deal.If you want to SUSTAIN those sort of numbers DURABILITY plays a big part ,hence my choice of materials etc. That combo wont give you much change from around $8-10,000 with bearings ,coatings etc etc.To sustain big HP you need big mods. The days of a crank designed with a 30-50% 'safety' margin are long gone!

I have been in contact with the engineering staff at Dutt. perf, and they assured me that all they did was the plumbing for the turbo. The engine was already built when it came to them.

you can make big power out of an engine designed for much less, however, the more power you add, the quicker the motor will let go. of course, if you build up a turbo car that is capable of making 35 lbs of boost and 700hp, but you never run it over 3000rpm w/ no more than 5 lbs of boost, its gonna live a lot longer than if you were running it at max all the time. (that focus was supposedly built by Duttweiler is a show car, and NEVER gets run hard)

Terry is talking about making a motor that will live at the mentioned rpm, and I would estimate up to the 450-500hp level. some engines do live longer than others, for any number of unknown reasons. Heck, saleen went through 6 s/c'ed Contour motors at 400-450hp in a short period of time before they gave up on doing a Saleen Contour (because they didn't build up the bottom end as necessary)
what good is a 500 horse motor that may blow up at any second? and sometimes motors

It's all about balance.
