I loved my Contour. Had a two of them. To bad they stopped making them and never could get the quality nailed down.

Base RS sedan is the lightest version. Add about 100 lb or so for Sport version, base wagon is plus 100 lb, WRX adds about 220lb+ or so over base RS.

Take a base RS for a test drive and flog the crap out of it. Never mind the RE92 tires (real dogs)- replaced mine with ES100s before I even took delivery.

Motor is really tight when new, but after a couple thousand miles and a computer reset a much stronger performer.

Except for the max tuners here this is a fine replacement for Contour. For the tuners, the used and new market for any thing that fits an Impreza is Huge!

Had it up to 120 and lots of pedal left, smooth & stable plus the three pasengers did'nt even notice! Gotta learn how to launce AWD though - different style - easy to bog it down.

Great for wet and winter too. Only mods planned are STI rear sway bar, front sub frame brace, rear strut tower brace and maybe STi springs. Put my $200 Pioneer HU in with the stock speakers and the system sounds great.

Apparently the 2.5 RS motor not friendly to tuning. WRX and STi have been tuned to over 600 hp.

When its time, the WRX wagon will be my SVT replacement as well. It is the perfect combination of sport and utility (for the dog/kayaks/bikes/Lowe's run/etc.). I've got a few more years to enjoy my SVT, but when its time is done I'll be joining you!

i wasn't specifically looking to replace my car with it, but the opportunity just came up and after thinking abou tit alot i don't think i can go wrong.

Right now the used prices on the WRX wagons are still a little too high for me to justify the cost difference, but you never know when something will happen to total your car and you need to be prepared to know what you would buy in that situation. Or, in your situation just running across a deal hard to pass up. Go for it!

Of couse its not a turbo. But if you have the $$$, for about 4k-5k USD you can get the NA 2.5 up to cobb stage 3 (cams, i/h/e) which should net you about 220hp.
