I have got my hands on a nice 2.5 with only 24000mi from a wreck and I am swaping out my 218000 ztec that still runs strong but I want to up my performance. Is there anything that I should be careful of during this delicate heart transplant. Are there any mods that I should look at while I have the 2.5 out of the car to improve my performance .

I take it you also remembered to get the subframe, computer, motor mounts, and all the tranny components necessary to make it work?

In that case, headers!!! They are much easier to install with the engine out of the car. If you're willing to hold off the transplant for a little while, and you've got several hundred dollars burning a hole in your pocket, there's an MSDS headers group buy going on right now in the Group Buy forum. I would highly recommend getting a set.

you gotta have the headers. the rumble of the exhaust alone is worth it.

Ok the headers are on the WisH LiSt. I was also going to go with a 2.5" Pipe from front to back. Should I gut the cat or leave it alone?
