I have Craftsmen and Mac in my box. Both work really well, and if you take the time to maintain them well, either will last a long time. If you go Craftsmen, I'd say spend the extra money and buy the "professional" series of the tools you'll use most, like a 3/8 ratchet. They're a little better quality(from my experience), are easier to clean more comfy to use, and also look better to boot. Mac is a good tool and yes they will work with almost anyone, but it can sometimes be hard to find a truck to walk up to or get a new tool right away. As has been said, Sears is open on weekends so you can run there anytime almost and get a new one should the need arise.
