#1 if you don't bypass the amp your sending whatever your deck puts out lets assume 17wrms into a amp thats looking for about a 1volt signal. The amp isn't made to take a high input. Yes it can last or it can blow up i have seen both.
#2 If you bypass the stock amp and run the speakers off of a decent deck say Pioneer or Alpine then it will sound much better than with the stock amp connected.
1. If you use the preouts from the new HU, not the speaker outputs from the built-in amp in the HU then its getting the 1 volt that is looking for. Unless your HU has high volt preouts.
2. Yea, i'll agree with that. Although my old kenwood HU's amp sounded worse than the Kenwood/factory amp combo (I think the factory HU sounded slightly better than using the preouts on the kenwood w/the premium amp).
