well, i've finally ordered a y-pipe....a random technology y-pipe/hi-flow cat. should be here either tomorrow or monday, and as soon as i get it installed i'll give my road test impressions and review based on seat-of-the-pants feel. don't have ready access to a dyno right now, but hopefully i can get some HP numbers at some point in the near future.

fwiw, i have a 'before' dyno from the SE-CEG dyno day last december, but any new comparisons would have to be taken with a grain of salt due to different atmospheric conditions, an extra 15k miles on the car, etc. etc. etc.

not sure how many people even know that the RT y-pipe exists, and it *is* a bit pricey compared to SHOshop and other alternatives...but hopefully the results will be positive. the guy that i talked to at RT this morning indicated that it doesn't seem to be a hot seller, but given the lack of publicity, its relatively recent introduction, and the fairly steep price of entry, that's not too surprising. at any rate, my conversation w/ clay was quite enjoyable...his personal ride is an SVT lightning, and he tried to talk the wife into an SVT contour but she balked at the 5 spd idea. laugh

(for the record, the retail price is (gulp) $560. eek )

well, i'll be out watching for the UPS man... laugh

Blake,

Whats the difference in the SHO and RT. Your right though I have never heard of it until now. I am in the market for a ypipe and exhaust, I have settle on the Exhaust(Borla) just need to do a bit more in the ypipe area.

I would really like to get a used ypipe and save some money, then I'd be able to get a Diablo chip too. smile

Let us know how it is. Where can I find info on this ypipe?

Hope you see some good gains.

Thanks,
Justin

Wow, let us know how it feels.
I have the Sho Shop Y-Pipe and High Flow Cat, also ceramic coated by Jet Hot Coatings, and I still dont think I spent as much. Good Luck, keep us posted.

i wish....

for the record, i'm not paying anywhere near retail. i had a minor role in test-fitting a cougar y-pipe to make sure it would fit the contour, so i got a healthy discount for my efforts. otherwise, i would've gone in on the SHO shop y-pipe group buy from a few months ago...

re: justin's questions -- the RT/y is similar to the SHO/y. it has dual 2" inlets and a single 2 1/4" outlet (vs. 2" --> 2 1/2"). also like the SHO/y, it abandons the factory 180° bend at the rear cyl. bank. i have a jpg image of it if anyone wants to volunteer to host and post it - i can email it but don't have any webspace at the moment to put it on.

i doubt there's any info on their website yet, but the address is http://www.randomtechnology.com. they've been a major supplier of high-flow aftermarket cats for a long time...

Yeah I talked with them a long time ago, they were gonna lower the price to test on my SVT. Good for you Blake. Make the companies pay for your parts, that's what I do. And being Sponsored by them gives some benefits.
