hey folks,

well i just picked-up another SVT (used with 16k on the odometer), and the previous owner had an exhaust job done on it. it consists of 3 borla mufflers - not the cat-back kit, but a custom job with three XR-1s (which are overkill in my opinion), causing much too much drone from 1.7K - 2.7K RPM.

so i wanted to quiet it down by replacing the middle muffler with something else. i was wondering if anybody has any recommendations to keep it at near stock levels?

my friend recommended magnaflows over flowmasters. i would like a performance muffler, but baffled or not doesn't matter. basically looking for the quietest performance muffler in your opinion. thanks!

May want to try the Edelbrock 5503...does a great job at killing drone. I know of a guy that has this setup and it sounds great!

If you are looking for more of a resonator I would go with one from vibrant, they are straight through design and are supposed to be excellent.

dcl,
whereabouts in VA are you? drop in on the CAP section and intro yourself.

i did an extensive search to find a way to reduce the drone on my setup. i found:
-several people have used a glasspack of some sort - mixed reactions from people.
-edelbrock 5503 or 5501 depending on your setup (center in/center out or offset).
-vibrant resonator 12" or 18".

i have the 18" on order and will see how it does. try using the search function in the upper right in the "General Mods" and "Performance" sections for "resonator", "drone" and realted words.

good luck!

Hey, thanks for your suggestions guys. I'm going with the Vibrant 18" resonator from a local dealer. I would have never known to ask about these unless you guys clued me in.

as for SVT ST Pete, I am in Alexandria. I dropped-in Capitol CEG earlier last month, but I just moved-in and have been a bit busy settling-down. I intend to show-up to a meeting in the near future. thanks for asking and inviting!

Take care, David Leigh
