Hey folks,
New to the site having taken ownership of two Bi-Fuel Contours recently to take advantage of our private use Natural Gas Well here in Southern Indiana for our transportation expense.
First off must say it's a real pity Ford/Mercury stopped making these cars. The wife and I both really enjoy (as much as one can!) our 80 mile round trips to work and home in these cars.
I am extensively mechanically experienced from General Aviation Aircraft to a wide array of power equipment and automotive so the Natural Gas system doesn't present a problem if I can find sources of info and parts online.
I guess my first question is: Do the Haynes Manuals cover the Bi-Fuel cars?
2nd is: Are there any good online sources for info, parts and help, such as message boards etc.?
3rd : Is it true that the Natural Gas components in the system are covered under the "Emissions Warranty" of 8 years and/or 80k miles? Especially the "Compuvalve" ($1500.00 OUCH!!!)
Thanks in advance
Bradford Scales

For your first question i can't answer, i don't know if Haynes manual have these informations.
Second question, if you need precise info i have access to ford database, and that include bi-fuel.
Third question, you can give me your VIN and i'll find the part number for the compuvalve and check if it's warranty.
Nic.

Bi-fuel is not in the haynes manual. I have seen very little info anywhere on the bi-fuel 'tours. I think I saw one site that had a decent amount of info, but I have no idea where to find it. Most people on here that own bi-fuels just ripped the bi-fuel components out.

Well, can't answer #1 (as I returned my Haynes manual to Autozone and ordered a Chilton due to the Haynes covering a Mondeo 4 cylinder and assuming all parts were the same...) or #3, but...
#2: You're there dude!

Hmmmm, I guess one could say you are bi-curius then Sorry - I have nothing really informative to add. There is a fellow on here who sells the the ford service CD for like 5 dollars, todras is his screen name. I'd assume they'd cover the bi-fuel.

Yes it's todras and they cover bi-fuel. I believe they're $8.00usd not $5.
Just send him a private message.
I have a CD and it's come in very handy. The price versus what you get is a great deal.
Haynes doesn't cover any bi-fuel.

This is for the catalytic convertors, as to whether CNG is added to that I'm not sure.
Here's a link to a thread that talked about refueling. Linky!

Do you have a way of compressing your natural gas? If not, those compressores are very pricy from what I understand. You won't have a way to utilize the CNG capability unless you have a way to compress the gas.

Thanks Jim, but yeah got that all scoped out. A gentleman named Bill Brinkman (Clean Air Concepts) in Northern Indiana has a pile of reconditioned Fuel Maker refueling appliances and every component I could ask for or imagine. I'm looking at around $3500.00 to be up and running but with our gasoline expence being what it is...I can handle it!.
Also, thanks for the tip on the CD info.

In the classified area I've put out feelers for some of these mythical "removed" CNG system components. Got a box in the corner of your garage taking up valuable space? Heck, you'll never need those parts, let me pay shipping and take that worthless junk off your hands. I know, I know, I'm just that kinda guy, always thinking of others. bradscales@hotmail.com
