So, two months after my car got stolen and the stereo was stripped out, I still haven't gotten a new deck. Talk about lazy

I'm considering an OEM-style deck to discourage people from breaking in again. My buddy suggested putting in an OEM mp3/CD deck from another Ford car like the mp3 deck out of a Ranger. Anyone know if this type of thing fits in there?

If it doesn't, I'm just gonna buy a new aftermarket stereo. Anyone have any connections around SLC that might help a cheapskate like me? ;-)

I'm thinking something simple like this:

Sony Deck

I would just get something with a removeable face and take it off everytime you got out of the car.

Try and post this in Audio, I'm also interested in this possibility. I don't really like the look of aftermarket stereo's, but I want mp3 capability.

If it helps - I took my cd player out of my tour and put it into my dads bronco and it fit and hooked up everything C4 -

So - I would imagine that it would work - but hopefully the ranger has a "premium" sound setup that way the plugs will match.

As long as it will fit in your dash and you can get the wiring right you can put about anything you want in your car. I had a 78 Olds that I put a Infity deck in from a dodge.

Yes, true. But I dont' wanna encourage anyone to steal stuff again. One of my buddies in the apartment complex came out to his car at 5:30 AM one morning and found a bunch of kids trying to open up his mustang and steal his deck.

And thanks everyone for the offers of letting me have your old decks. Since all I have is MP3s on my computer, and my CD collection is back up to ONE cd, I figure I better get an mp3 player. I think I'll just take the suggestion to find a deck with a removable face. Hopefully I'll have it installed by the meet
