I've been having the same problem. The car runs fine and I know it can tell when the car is getting hot because it turns on the fans, but the gauge only works sometime and not others. I've already had my cooling fluids flushed and replaced this year. This problem seems to go away when I play around with the engine, so my guess is there is a bad wire someplace from the sender maybe?
