Probly any kind of heat source that can melt plastic will work. The oven would work pretty good, as long as you watch it...

Yeah I'll watch the oven, I mite even look in it every now and then at the emblem. It'll be my dorm's community oven,, hehe, someone else comes in to cook, and ask what I'm making. "I'm baking ford emblems" Now they'll think I'm really crazy.

I'm a little confused, are you saying that this was underneath the blue Ford oval insert on the stock emblem? That's what i'm getting out of it. If so, it's probably only a pre98 thing if anything as I know my emblem had absolutley nothing underneath it.....just thought I'd toss that in before everyone started melting their emblems...

Don't know if I'd stick it in an oven. The whole thing is plastic, isn't it? The lamp probably worked because the painted portion was closer to it. Stick it in an oven to heat it up, you'll heat the whole thing and probably screw it up.

Yeah, I agree. A lightsource will radiate heat at it onto just the front surface to heat only that part up (and not radiate heat from every angle onto it). Also, since I painted it black on just that surface to be removed, that I'm sure, was helping that material to absorb more of the heat energy than the chrome surface (which just reflects most of the heat [IR waves] away from it, absorbing very little).

Yeah, I've never messed with mine, I just assumed it was metal since the one in the pic didn't melt... so bad idea...

When I made my custom badge for my grille I ran into this At the time I simply sanded it down, Otherwise it would have still been visible under the v6 badge.. I should have just filled in the FORD stamp with putty! It has a clean look on your car. Nice.
