you can go for fixing the odometer by taking apart the instr. cluster. I'd probably buy a whole instr. cluster (about $20-30) with a similar mileage and drop it in. that takes a short phillips head screwdriver and less than 1hr of your sweet time

fixing the odo takes a few more fine tools and some more time and patience while fiddling with the internals, but isn't very hard.
