All I know is that that crap looks nasty as hell to me! Facial piecings almost always look read and infected or crusty around the actual holes and that sickens me. Earings, belly buttons, tongue rings and tattoos are fine, but something about nose rings, eyebrow rings and piercing you lip just grosses me out.
Nonetheless, the point at hand is that the school said no, and he has to live with it. I think coming to school looking like a pin cushion, is daft, and VERY unattractive (except to other pin-cushions).
I waited till I got out of school to get my tattoos, I have 3 large ones on my back, but I don't go around flaunting them.
I don't see any engineers or sales guys in the Auto Industry with this sort of "self-expression", why? Because it doesn't look professional and frankly I would be distracted myself if I were trying to conduct SERIOUS business with someone looking like this kid. I'd be too busy laughing, or I'd blow him off as a cook. Sure after hours, at the bar or at the damn laundromat, put a damn fish-hook through your eyelid if it makes you wet, but when you're going to school or working in an environment were decency, respect, and seriousness are required - take that crap and and stow it till you get home!
Finally, I agree with others here when they blame the mother. WTF was she thinking to let a 10th grader do this to himself? He needs a good back-hander upside his head and the Mom needs a slap back into reality too.
This is my opinion so if it pisses you off, oh well.
ps. Isn't it funny how the "Hot-Topic" crowd, as I like to call them, all strive to outdo each other with whacked-out clothing, fluoro hair colors, mohawks, peircings etc., but in the end they all look the same?
