Mahatma Gandhi knew the rules during his peaceful protest too.

If I would have been in charge (and had the position held by colonial Britain), Ghandi would have starved to death. Hunger strikes have no effect on me.

Anyway... I voted against the suspension, because I do not agree with the rule. However, I do not agree with the piercings either. What is he expressing? Whatever it is, the meaning is lost on me. He should consider the intended and unintended messages carefully in this semi-permanent form of expression.

I also believe he should have obeyed the rule in school or attended a different school while gaining grassroots support for the right to have piercings in school. A legal waiver waiving school liability for any harm caused by the piercings may be needed, and would be acceptable.

While a parent should not charge their 10th grade child rent, it is all to often a necessity in our world. However, one has to prove the necessity to me for me not to think something's wrong in the parenting.

That brings up parenting and the piercings. I would not allow my child to have body piercings while they lived under my roof. Parents have the right to create house rules. However, since the "roof" is partly the kids, as he is helping to pay for it, that moral authority is removed.
