I don't know why they include it. They did give me the other nut with the cotter pin, too. But that's the easy one to get off. All fresh. I suppose you could just re-use the old ones, but hey, new parts are always better, right? Maybe the manufacturer figured that since it's such a PITA to get them off, they assume you might do some damage to the nut in the process. I do recall the ends being a bit pricey _ more than $30 each.
