Bought mine at Best Buy for 42 and change, picture quality is nice considering. I bought the WS version and it looks sweet on my 51" with 7.1 surround upmixed (adding 2 additional rear surround dolby digital off the 1 surround 6.1).
I have always been dissapointed with episodes I and II, the "original trilogy" will always best the current in my opinion. Lucas has lost a step, hopefully episode III will be able to save the other two.
The THX is a nice improvement in sound quality i must say. All in all it is a must have, I have the original THX certified VHS box set but this DVD set is oh so nice.

The originally trilogy had writers. Lucas has such a big head that he figured he could write the next three. Guess what, he blows. I've seen menopausal women with more flow than his dialogue.

No visible ghost for him. Don't forget in Ep II you hear him call out to Anakin when he's slaying the tribe of sand people. He says something to the effect of "No, Anakin, no!". It's clear he's watching Anakin and sees his gradual turn towards the dark side. Why Lucas didn't have Qui Gon appear I don't know.

yeah, thats exactly what I noticed

You'll find out in Episode III why Qui Gon doesn't have a ghost.

Yes, it is suposed to be explained in Ep 3 why some Jedi can return as ghosts and others can't.
The whole Anakin ghost thing....the official explanation is that Anakin 'died' when he turned to the dark side. That is why his ghost is young...it represents his true self before he 'died'. Now, my explanation is that they wanted to insert young Anakin to promote the prequels. I feel this is also why they redid the Emperor's scene in Empire. Basically so they could insert the name Anakin Skywalker. I also feel that they should not be changing the originals to fit the prequels....thats just taking the easy path. If Lucas were any kind of writer, he would form the prequels around the original trilogy.

I didn't realize that. I just thought Lucas wrote them all. LSNED.
I just assumed that, armed with more money, arrogance, and technology, old GL loaded every inch of frame with CGI effects and forgot about "story."
The original movie follows a very classic myth archetype. It's a "story of the quest." There was no story in "episode 1." I didn't even bother with 2.
