I had mine Saturday.
Was about $40 drop shipped to my house.
I also have the ORIGINALS on VHS.
I wish they had both versions in the DVD set because they really screwed up 2 parts with the remakes!
Lucas stated it's his prerogative to change the originals but we all he's just a pompous jackass. The first major change was absolute BS (Han shooting first ) and the last change (end of Jedi) was just a BS marketing ploy.
I don't mind the special effects changes at all.
I don't own 1 or 2 outside of copies off digital cable. That's good enough for those 2.
If I want the DVD versions I'll just "find" them at a later date.

The scene with Han and Greedo looks awful. I'm not talking about the sandy clam-inducing change to make Greedo shoot first, I'm just talking about the very poor construction of that scene in the DVD release. That should have been left alone.
Other than that, I think the other changes are well done. I don't yet have an opinion about having Hayden in the final shot. People shouldn't get too upset about these changes. At least Lucas didn't replace Lando Calrissian with Jar Jar Binks in the Falcon in the last battle sequence, or anything like that.
The really obsessed Star Wars fans (which I am not) make it sound like Lucas is pissing in the Holy Grail, which he's not.

Now this one is done right! Lucas pulled the Emperor from Empire and replaced it with the Emperor we all know from ROTJ and EP I & II. There's even NEW DIALOGUE!
Also, the commentary track on Empire is pretty good. The director (can't think of name) is a hoot!

But going with that theory means they should have re-shot all of Alec Guinness' scenes with Ewan McGregor, and then put HIM as the ghost at the end.
Anakin was still alive when he was Vader AND turned back, which is why he had the "honor" of being the ghost.

I think Anakin replaced the old dude because:
1: To tie the prequels & sequels together. Remember there are no ghosts in Ep I and II and III (?)
2: No one knows the old Vader and can't relate to the old man under the mask. But everyone knows the young Anakin
3: Anakin reverted to his good self. No ghosts of Sith exist, so the young Anakin (before turning to the dark side) is the ghost.
4: Lucas just couldn't not f_ck with it one more time....

I'll have to do a screen shot tonight with the new Anakin ghost and post it.
Then we should have a contest seeing who can post the funniest replacement for the old Vader.
Sound good?

I have a copy of the originals that were transfered from laser disc to DVD.
Lucas has stated that he will never release the originals again.
Too bad. They were better before he screwed them up. The deleted scenes were deleted for a reason. It was not just that they didn't work from a technical/FX standpoint. They added nothing to the story and slowed down the pacing. Sometimes more is just more.
Function before fashion.
