I have been receiving a lot of cheezy local papers lately. They are somewhat entertaining because of the local news covered and terribly written stories. The thing that irks me the most about the papers and just about every highschool and college paper written:

I cannot stand the overuse of the word PLETHORA. It doesn't make you sound smart! 99% of people use it incorrectly. Its not a good thing!!! PLETHORA is negative. In most cases you don't want a PLETHORA of anything! Its means: State of being overfull; excess; overabundance = NOT GOOD, TOO MUCH.

I am not an english major which is evident in my posts but come on!!! There are plently of better "big words" out there. After you read 3 articles in a row that use the word it becomes very annoying.

Anyone else find overused words like this?

There are plenty... but CRISIS is my most grating.

Making everything a crisis ends up causing the word to lose its importance.

I'm notorious for babbling when I type.

I overuse "though" and "and"

Coordinating conjunctions drive me nuts. They are totally overused:

And, or, but, so...

...I know there's a few I'm forgetting.
