historically, at least in Israel, terrorists were always inclined to sway the election results in the right direction. right means hard liners, hardliners means no negotiations, no negotiations means war, war means more power. I would say this logic applies here all the same and so Al Qaeda would vote for Bush.

to all those who think that Al Qaeda can't vote I can propose the following scenario taken again from Israel history: a week before the elections, they execute a major teract. the nation gets into "the war spirit" and goes to vote for a hard policy. mission accomplished. you don't have to be a genious to predict this reaction.

if they do want The Long Face, which I doubt, here's an alternative: two--three weeks before elections and a small explosion or "unsuccessfull" attempt, and the nation will conclude that current administartion failed to achieve anything in the war on terror and goes to vote for another guy. as bumper sticker has it "anybody but Bush!".

I guess we'll wait and see...

More than a few I'd wager. Familiarize yourself with the demographics of SE MIchigan; Dearborn, Southfield & surrounding communities in particular. It has the largest population of middle easterners outside of the middle east anywhere on the globe. 3rd, 4th and even 5th generation American citizens. I'm betting that there are some(not generalizing) Muslim Extremists (who are terrorists, active or inactive) who will legally vote as they are US citizens.

BP, in a way I do agree with your thoughts (now that they are clearer, thx for that, btw).

I saw a news story this morning about two Saudi Al-Qaeda children who were captured. These two youths proceeded to explain how they were wrapped up into the mess. Their points were laid out rather nicely in that they are taken at a young age, before the solid foundation of what is right and wrong is set. They are then taught a radical version if Islam and trained to kill, and that killing Westerners is the only way into "Heaven".

It was a rather good story, and I wish I could get a link to it on the net (I can't find one yet). In the end, I feel the only real way to stop Terrorism will be to eliminate its roots, or to push them so far into isolation that they are not a threat to anyone. Unfortunately this means putting people in harms way, which nobody likes to do, but it has to be done to insure our safety.
