I did the same thing. *My Opinion* Mazda 3 drives much like a focus, very fun and tossable. Very nice little car overall, but nothing like my SVT.
Now the 6 ... the 6 felt so much like my SVT, but blander, slightly heavier, with number steering, and a clutch with no feel to it. And the engine revs seemed to "jump" between shifts. It is very nice looking and spacious inside and out, and just as capable performance-wise as an SVT Contour. It's just lacking the soul, the involvement.
I'd drive an SVT Contour before you buy a 6, see which you like better.
Of that earlier short list posted, I think I'd be interested in the EVO or the S4.
Of course, your opinion may differ.
oh hell, if we're moving up in classes the S4 is right at the top of my list! especially the S4 avant!
