In our specific cars, is it louder to the mic to fire rearwardly (load off of the truck lid) or towards the cabin? Yes, I know it rattles more rearward firing, but I am concerned with what the mic thinks for the local comp in the next coupla weeks. Thanks. Also, does anyone have pics /links to how to remove the rear deck? That would be appreciated as mine needs dampened badly.. Thanks again. Sorry for the post all running together.

no pics on how to remove deck lid, but i can tell you how.

open your trunk and look at the lifting arms that hold the trunk open. 10 mm bolts x2 on each arm...the wiring...cut it, then splice the wires back into it.

other then the visual of having the seats folded down and firing subs forward, facing them backwards is definately louder sounding

I beleive is is because the subs will ahve more air to move in the trunk, rather then the few inches to the seats

that would make the most sense but i do beleive you get the most sound out of facing them backwards. Something to do with the waves having room to "grow" as they bounce off the back and go towards the front.

i believe that facing rearward gives more bass but forward is tighter/more musical. if you like rap more, face rearward, if you like rock, face forward. from what i've heard from some experts is that the rear will allow the bass to travel more but causes somewhat of a delay in the accuracy of the bass, when compared to forward firing.
if you go rearward cover that sub! dont let sh*t rolling around in the trunk hurt your poor sub
this is an age old argument that i have heard 50/50 on opinions from different installers. although, the few who i have met who have won IASCA competitions said rearward=more bass.

with enough air in front of the subs, either will work approx the same. With EQ they can definitely be made to sound the same.
