Holding you foot down on the gas while cranking (and its not starting) is a good way to flood your engine....I know cause i had that problem a few times before my motor swap.

So please, do not reconmend that.

Actually on our cars a wide open throttle during cranking does turn off the injectors. It is an intended design feature. It has worked for me many times.

Perhaps if you have a chip this feature may have been removed.

It is unlikely that you need to do anything else unless the problem repeats itself. I have seen this as a one time event on several cars, including makes other than Ford.

It was my understanding that full throttle would cause more flooding but quarter to half would cause enough air to flow in with out flooding the cylinders even more.

I tried many times full throttle when my old 2.5 liter flooded and it did not work....And i have no chip...it acutally flooded 1 more cyliner than the orginal 2 (faulty injectors by the way was my cause).
