That's what I've heard... another Airman said there really isn't much snow around here, just wind (to make blizzards) and melted snow during the day to black ice come nightfall.

I'm actually from Iowa, and I've never had problems with all-season tires, but then again Iowa doesn't have much in the way of black ice, but there's plenty of snow in the winter (usually).

Oh well, I'll just put on some winter tires and try not to drive so much.

Around $200 each mounted and balanced with the full road hazard warranty. They originally wanted a lot more, but that tirerack quote was gold. Firestone didn't want to lose business to them.

Thanks Shotwell.

I'll be sure to print out the Tire Rack quote when I'm ready to take the plunge.

Something else to note. Supposedly some Discount Tire locations (or America's Tire, whatever they're called here) can order Bridgestone and BF Goodrich tires for a discounted price. Shop around regardless.

Last note I have is I went with the size up tires, the 225 50R 16s, and they rub in the rear. The Kumhos didn't but the S03s do. I don't personally care about a small rub mark on the inner fenderwell, but some people do. It really doesn't rub that bad anyway unless I'm loaded down or cornering like a madman!

Does your car have the factory springs, or does it have lowering springs?

I was thinking of up-sizing too, but my car has the factory springs.

If Eric still manages the Ballard Firestone, he'll sell you anything Firestone/Bridgestone sells for 10% above wholesale.

I got my Firehawk SZ50's from him for around $130 each, they retail for $100 more than that.

I just got done thrashing on a new set of Yokohama AVS ES100 tires in 205/55-16 at a track school at PIR today, and they stuck and held up well. They were around $485 mounted/balanced/disposal fee at America's Tire Co. They're supposed to be quite good in the rain too.
