Besides I tought the SVT and Contours in general were drag limited to 145. confused

143. You gotta have quite a few mods or forced induction or a 3L to go much above 150

The car is very stable at 140+ my old t-bird was scarier at a 100.

I think just under 170MPH and you've hit redline on an SVT Duratec. If you have the mods to get there.

The 143MPH limit on the SVT must just be an estimate by Ford. It is not electronically limited. I've had my bone stock '98 SVT doing 155. It was impressively stable also. Not quite like a 911 Porsche or a new Corvette, but very nice.

compared to the old tempo at 90 the contour is a damned rock at 120 wink

Not to burst your bubble, but the speedo is really inaccurate at the upper end of it's range. You need something like a GPS to get a good feel for how fast you are going.

Don't worry, it was still fast. But indicated speeds are suspect at the upper end of the speedo.
