I'd say half my work shoes over the years have been Rockports. I like them a lot, but it is sometimes hard to find one that isn't ugly. That's when I resort to other brands if I need shoes. I have one pair of Doc Martens (8053), but they are on the casual side than of what I wear to work. Picked up a pair of Kenneth Cole Reaction (forgot model) shoes a couple weeks ago, but have only worn them one day so far.
Actually, they do make some plain black walking shoes
