I strongly disagree with prejudice!
You will not clean more then the oily surface residue using your method.
The caked on garbage will still be there.
I do think that once you do really clean both the manifolds the vacuum port method is a good maintenance cleaning for every oil change but THAT's it.
Also the full job doesn't take more then a few hours. It's an afternoon or evening job. If it takes a weekend something is wrong...
