Now, I am spoiled as hell on HD Programming. I love the pic quality and the 5.1. But, here is my question.

For non HD programs, I use just the digital cable pack. The pic is absolutley horrid. I mean, fuzzy as heck, not real clear. What is this due to? Is it some settings on my TV? Is it the cable?

I have dicked with the settings on the TV and all the various picture settings for the screen size. Does anyone else have the same problem?

The TV I have is here:

http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=anSMYheeIbOMWFba-oCGaViO_at9L24tb_I=?ProductSKU=KP46WT520&Dept=tv&CategoryName=tv_ProjectionTVs_RearProjection_43to53TVs

and the cable is Brighthouse Digital Cable (formerly Time Warner).

Any ideas on settings or what not would be appreciated

It's Brighthouse, network channels are very compressed. Even with Direct Tv, I can't stand watching the SD games. I have to wait till the 4pm game to get HDTV.

Thanks Jim, had a feeling it was Bright House.

Have you tried this forum? : http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/
Maybe they got some answers?

My opinion:
If your watching regular 480i through a bigscreen tv after your all used to HD resolution, then of course the 480i is going to look crappy, especially since it is also compressed mpeg digital format. When the screen size gets that big with mpeg, you can start to see artifacts of compression on many lower quality channels that didn't buy enough bandwidth.

Don't worry though, someday, all channels will be in HD 720p or 1080p because by then, all Americans will have bigscreens, and HD will have to become the new std in order for us to tolerate the picture

I have Direct TV, and an Over the Air antenna for HD network. No BHN for me. Gonna upgrade to full HDTV VERY soon.

The AVS forums have two links devoted to Orlando HDTV, one that is BHN specific. Lots of good info.

You might get better picture quality going to a composite video cable on your regular feed. It's worth a try. I don't know if this is true anymore but I know with the Sony (TV) I have using S-video bypasses the digital comb filter in the TV so WYSIWYG.

Keep in mind too that on most digital cable networks channels less than 100 are still analog and will suffer accordingly.

go with LCD/DLP TV's or whatever they are. My mom and dad bought a 50inch Samsung and wow you can seee the difference. I play project gotham 2 on it and I'm blown away, (then I run out to my csvt and drive like crazy around the block) but yea, look into those TV's cause I hear projections aren't gonna be around for much longer def. recomend samsung though, for sony your just paying for the name. good luck
