So now it is reported that the first 2 analysts CBS hired to authenticate the documents conclued that they may not be authentic. They expressed their concerns to CBS and even called the producer the day before airtime. CBS simply ignored them (and as we know, ignored the family of the "author" who also said they were not authentic)..got 2 more "experts" and ran the story with any mention of the controversy. Rather/CBS still sticking..
About as blatant an example of biased journalism I can recall. I think Rather is finished as a political journalist.. CBS has taken a hit. And now the Q of authentisity is largely settled the Q of WHO gave them the forged documents is going to be asked more forcefully.
At this point, this "docudrama" is peripheral to and not really harmful for the the Kerry camp/DNC..but if CBS points (under extreme pressure of course) a finger their way...all kinds of hurt for them..
BTW, I think it was incredibly stupid tactically for DNC to release new Bush Guard service commercial this week given this controversy. What are they thinking over there! Not complaining mind you...but it seems like sabotage.
