If it were the pads wouldn't they do it all the time? We've never noticed that on my ex's Cobra with the exact same pads and only once on the Contour. Weird is my point.

Pad composition indeed can make a big difference in wet conditions. The Motorcraft replacements for my car didn't do well in the wet until they were heated up. The originals didn't have that problem. The ones on it now (Satisfied Classic semimetalic) also do not have that problem.

The Motorcraft pads did get better as they wore, but still nothing near what they should be. I replaced them when they still had about 3/4 of the material remaining. Safety in the wet was more valuable than the price of a set of replacement pads.

I used to ship the old Cold Stopper or Tan pads on brake kits for a long time. And in fact I used them on the SHO for years myself. No need for 'race' pads, hell the car ran my wife back and forth to work!

However over time I had complaints from Impala owners who talked of having to pre warm the pads a bit to get them to work in the wet. Seems we didn't have much of that problem in Phoenix...LOL!

The thing about some of them is not only compound but from my seat a grooved pad. The T pads are not. All the others are. This, like a rotors gas slot, helps prevent pad hydroplaning. Think about it. And a pad with more bite will be better as it is more coarse in nature.
