So what do I want now? The Mazda 6 or the Mercury Mondeo. I guess it depends on if they are both going to come with an MTX or not. They better.

If both offer a MTX, it's going to be down to handling, then looks (Mazda is going to be VERY tough to beat in that department). Choices!

It's all up to the calibrators, really. I don't work on much related to performance, but I know a couple people who do. But since everything is calibratable, someone can set it up to suck or be great. And calibration is something I know very little about (besides it being completely illegal and risk my job).
I haven't heard about what transmissions yet, but for sure Zetec and a Duratec. I don't know it's it's a 2.5L or 3.0L, though. If I do hear of any extraneuos info, I'll pass it on.

I mean for my current Contour. I've seen the EEC-Tuner for Mustangs, but nothing that mentions it'll work on a 'tour. I'd much rather have complete control over engine management than rely on a chip or piggyback A/F system. Maybe you know of something and can point me in the right direction BTW, I know this is off-topic - apologies to those that are bothered by it.

If you have a '95, maybe. OBD II just sucks for easy fixes. The easiest/cheapest/best is to work with a dyno testing person that also programs chips. Even that custom programming, I suspect, is just changing of the calibrations parameters with the base code functionality not changed. But I haven't visted these shops yet.

Mondeo gets bumped to the 3.0 duratec, it's likely going to sway quite a few people to the the 219hp Mazda 6, with MTX available to boot The 6 also reportedly uses a dual mode damper, so it should be one smooth revving engine - but by then maybe the US spec 2.5's would get it to if there were more Mondeo's running around here.
