I don't think Ford was trying to make an M3 out of the Contour.

We have larger brakes, firmer struts & springs, 16" tires back in '98 were good sized on a factory automobile as well.

With those additional features was anybody prepared to plunk down $26K+ for a Contour?

Hell at $23K MSRP they were considered expensive!

Lincoln might be able to get a qualtiy up-scale high end competitive car made but with the CTS-V at $50K MSRP and Lincoln having no current cars that can compete in that class. When the new LS comes out, maybe then. It took GM putting the 'Vette engine in its 4-door sports car, Do we see Ford dropping a 2003+ Cobra engine in a LS in the future?
