So, is all this talk about the new SVTs just talk or does anyone actually have solid info on the new lineup, including specs?

Ok, someone mentioned that the lower end cars won't have SVT badging anymore, just ST. Do you think they'll name them like overseas?

I'm assuming the numer after the ST is HP, cause the Mondeo ST200 has 205HP (2.5L), ST220 has 226HP (3.0L). The Focus ST170 has 170HP or 173PS (whatever PS is...) (2.0L)

Focus ST170

Mondeo ST220

EDIT: Found what PS means:

PS = Pferdest¤rke (1.0 PS = 0.9863 HP.) Used by japan
kW = Kilowatt (1.0 kW = 1.34 HP) Used by Germany and other in Europe.

1st link off Google, on "www.superhonda.com" forums... obviously not just Japan uses it...

Realisticly, an SVT version of the Ford 500 would be something worth investing in, but thats just my .02 cents worth. As far as them going "upscale" to compete with the likes of AMG/"M"/"S", please Honestly, what automotive enthuisist is going to take them seriously there , I mean they had over 10 years to work with and where did it get them, seriously. Just take the CSVT for instance, no 3.0L when they had in their stable, no Quaife to back it up, even with the 2.5L, no 17" tires/wheels, no big brakes, no quality struts/springs, etc. They will not even be able to compete with the "V" line-up from Caddy, let alone the above mentioned "specialty cars", hell the "V" line-up is something to reckon with considering the new, upcoming 500 hp V-series Plus CTS, S/C'd Northstar XLR and blown STS, both pushing the 400 hp envelope Talk about "breakthrough"!

I don't think Ford was trying to make an M3 out of the Contour.

We have larger brakes, firmer struts & springs, 16" tires back in '98 were good sized on a factory automobile as well.

With those additional features was anybody prepared to plunk down $26K+ for a Contour?

Hell at $23K MSRP they were considered expensive!

Lincoln might be able to get a qualtiy up-scale high end competitive car made but with the CTS-V at $50K MSRP and Lincoln having no current cars that can compete in that class. When the new LS comes out, maybe then. It took GM putting the 'Vette engine in its 4-door sports car, Do we see Ford dropping a 2003+ Cobra engine in a LS in the future?

I agree about the CTS-V having the Vette engine, but remember, the next couple V-series will NOT have s/b Chevys, but rather BLOWN Caddys I'd love to buy a CTS-V, but its going to have to wait awhile, like 5 years or so when theres a couple good, used ones at the dealer lots. Only then will I be able to afford a quality, hi-powered RWD, American sedan that can run with the best from Europe!

BTW, I know our car came with bigger brakes and better suspension, I'm talkin' brand name items like todays pocket rockets have, that all

That was never made for the public. AFAIK, it was a one-off learning/fun project for SVT.

You guys are mixing up two different vehicles.

There was a concept T-bolt, that was a Ranger built w/ a lightning powertrain, done by SVT as an engineering exercise.

Then there was the T-bolt you could buy in the dealers. It was done by the personalization arm of the Ford Customer Service Division. It was basically a cosmetic package aimed at making the ranger look more aggressive. It was NOTHING like the the Concept truck done by SVT.
