Unlike the USSR, our goal isn't long-term occupation of Afghanistan and up-front foreign control of that country. While we are there to push some changes and make sure the Taliban don't return and that it doesn't regress into a nother terrorist nest, we haven't anything close to the plans that Soviet Russia had for Afghanistan...

I guessed that you of all people would have realized this up front.
