Of course attacks are presently up, as PREDICTED!
Both Iraq and Afganistan are approaching elections & terrorists KNOW it is the most critical time to attack so the will give it all they have. Same in Chechnia, same in Spain, and you can bet if Al Queda can possibly manage, the same in US and UK.
You must have patience and take a longer view in these things..progress (by ANY precident you can name) is expected to unfold over YEARS yet the media (in part driven by the political season and in part driven by ratings) gives the impression that it should be settled by election day or else.
I predict that when we are past ALL thses elections, there will be a gradual cooling off. Not all at once but gradual. We are training more Iraqi security forces, they will ultiamtely allow a reduction in our troup strength. Reducing troups + involving people in elections will gradualy take wind from the sails of those that would call us occupiers..which in turn will cool of some of the hostility and allow further troup reductions. There will be setbacks. Unanticipated problems. But when we have pulled back...the people will then know we are NOT occupiers, that the Islamic militant retoric about Americans being crusaders bent on conquest was a lie. And democracy in some form (even if limited/partial) very well may flourish. And the US may be ultimately be respected more than before not less and not just for our military might. We will see..
What the west bank has turned into...what was it?
